Absentee is a method of voting by mail for a voter who is absent from their voting precinct and cannot vote at their assigned polling location.
Age is a demographic that is calculated from the date of birth voters give to the Supervisors of Elections.

Bar Code is a series of vertical bars of varying widths, in which each of the digits zero through nine are represented by a different pattern of bars that can be read by a laser scanner. In webElect, it is a function that allows users to use an Optical Scanner to scan unique id numbers printed in a bar code format for quickly adding Voters to Groups or Deliverables. However, the Bar Code function does not require the use of a scanner; the user can input the numbers using the keyboard. Numbers must be entered one per line for the function to work correctly.

Canvassing is the process by which campaign staff and volunteers talk directly to the voters in their neighborhoods, either to market the candidate or campaign, or to seek information on voter attitudes issues as well as their support or opposition for the candidate or campaign. (Syn: Precinct Walking.)
Central Voter File is required for each state under the Help America Vote Act. In Florida, all 67 Supervisors of Elections submit their information to the Division of Elections. The voter information in webElect is updated regularly. On the main page, the date next to the Voter Info function is the date of the latest update.
Completed is the list of voters assigned to a deliverable to whom it has been delivered.

Contact is a person, business, or organization for whom the campaign has added information. A contact may or may not be a voter. Campaigns can edit contact records. In addition to Contact Details, a campaign can view Voter Details, add and edit Notes
Contact Details is the contact information (addresses, phone numbers, etc) for a voter or a contact. When the user wants to add contact information for a voter, the system creates a contact record for that individual.
Contribution is money received from a candidate's supporters to be used for the candidate's campaign expenses.
Contributor is someone who gives money to a candidate to support their campaign.

Deliverable is one of various types of communication or interaction with voters or contacts.
Demographic information provided to Supervisors of Elections are: Race, Gender, Date of Birth, which is used to calculate Age, and Party.

Events are primary and general elections.

Gender is a demographic given by voters to the Supervisors of Elections. The options are: Female, Male, and Unknown. Unknown' gender results when the information is not on file for the voter.

Group or Groups are sub-classifications of voters or contacts created by the webElect.net user. For example, groups can be created for different occupations such as "Teacher", "Healthcare Provider", and "Law Enforcement". Voters/contacts that fall under one of these categories can then be grouped together for targeting. Other possible groups include organization memberss (NRA, AARP, NAACP, etc.), neighborhood associations, church memberships, college alumni (UF, USF, FSU, etc.).

Hard in reference to voters in a specific political party refers to those voters who are more likely to vote for their political party. It is generally based on the assumption that a voter who regularly votes in a primary election, and votes in almost all general elections, tends to be more loyal to the party to which he or she is registered. Mapping is a function that allows the date from webElect.net to be plotted on a map using Microsoft MapPoint.

Note is a function that allows a campaign user to enter some information about a Contact. Notes can be limited based on the level of the user.

Optical Scanner is just an input device, like a computer keyboard or mouse, that can read a Bar code.

Query is a question, in general, often required to be expressed in a formal way. In computers, query is the process for manipulating information in a database.
Queue is the current list of contacts or voters for whom a deliverable has been assigned but not delivered.

Race is a demographic voters give to the Supervisors of Elections when registering. The races officially provided are: American Indian, Asian, Black, Hispanic, White, Other, and Unknown. The Unknown race results when the information is not on file for the voter.

Score is a basic measure of predictability that a voter will vote. Click here for more information.
Secondary Contributions are those individuals who helped secure primary contributions, such as an individual when a corporate check is presented.
Soft in reference to voters in a specific political party refers to those voters who are more more likely to vote for a candidate in any political party. It is generally based on the assumption that a voter who doesn't vote in a primary election but does vote in a general may not be as loyal to the party to which he or she is registered.
Super in reference to voters refers to those voters who vote very often, in both primary and general elections.

Target or Targeting

User is a person using webElect. Users can be assigned to three different levels: A basic user who can only see the contact and voter information (Level 1); An intermediate user who can do some additional functions, but can not access some of the campaign administration functions (Level 5); and An administrative user who can access all of the functions (Level 9).

Voter is an elector duly registered with the Supervisor of Elections. In webElect, the campaign can only see voters within their district. The voter record can not be edited by the campaign, the information comes directly from the Central Voter File.
Voter Details contains the demographic and election history for the voter, as provided in the central voter file. This link will not work for contacts who are note voters in the campaign's district, even if they are voters in another district and hence in the central voter file.

Walk List is a specially formatted list of voters, usually targeted, that a campaign will use during canvassing or precinct walking.
